Most landfill sites do not allow tippers because of stability problems which has led to the development of ejector bodies which look like tippers but use a massive hydraulic ram to push the contents out. Because of bad access on the sites double drive tractor units are often used. These big tractors are normally only seen on heavy haulage. Some double as heavy haulage when not on tip work. The massive surface area of the bodies can be used for creating some nice paintwork too. Fodens have been very popular on this work but are fast disappearing now. (06/02/2009) |
